GASCO Course Eligibility
To attend the GASCO Course, you need to clear the eligibility criteria of the GASCO Course.
- You must hold a Certificate of Proficiency as a Rating in charge of a Navigational or Engineering watch,
OR
- You must have completed the required sea time to be eligible for a CoC Examination.
- Hold a valid Certificate of Competency as an officer.
- The candidates also need to have a Certificate of Proficiency for Basic Training in Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations.
- Sea Service Requirement:
- At least three months of approved sea-going service on liquefied gas tankers within the last 60 months.
OR
- At least one month of approved onboard training on LPG Carrier of a supernumerary capacity, including at least three loading and three unloading operations, documented in an approved training record book as per Section B-V/1 of the STCW Code.
- At least three months of approved sea-going service on liquefied gas tankers within the last 60 months.
GASCO E-Learning Requirement:-
- As per DG Shipping Guidelines, candidates can only appear for the GASCO Exit Exam after successfully completing the E-Learning Module of the course.
Documents Required for GASCO Course
To apply for the GASCO course you need a list of documents such as:
- INDOS ID is mandatory for the course.
- Valid Medicals by a D.G. Shipping Approved Doctor (Click here for the list of DGS Approved Doctors)
- The candidate should have completed the D.G. Shipping Approved Basic Chemical Tanker Familiarization Course (CHEMCO Course)
- CDC with a proof of sea service
- If the sea service and the certificate details are updated on the Seafarer Profile, then the seafarer profile can be submitted.

GASCO Course Exit Exam
The GASCO Course Exit Exam is an important test taken after completing the GASCO training. It checks your understanding of gas tanker operations, safety procedures, and cargo handling. The exam is out of 30 marks, and you need to score at least 21 marks (70%) to pass. Clearing the GASCO exit exam is necessary to get certified and be eligible for jobs in the oil and gas or tanker ships.

- Steps to Complete GASCO E-Learning:
- Visit the DG Shipping website and access the e-learning portal.
- Click on Modular Courses, enroll in GASCO, and log in with face verification.
- Complete the required e-learning hours and attempt the assessment exam.
- Upon passing, candidates become eligible for 5-day classroom training at a DG Shipping-approved MTI.
- After classroom training, candidates must take the Exit Exam on the DG Shipping website.
How to Download GASCO Course Certificate?
- After completing E-Learning, Offline Training, and Exit Exam, the MTI generates the STCW GASCO certificate.
- The certificate can be downloaded through the Indos CoP Checker on the DG Shipping website.

What is the GASCO Course Validity?
- The GASCO STCW certificate is valid indefinitely, while the DCE (Dangerous Cargo Endorsement) certificate is valid for 5 years.
To apply for a DCE certificate, you need to follow these steps:
- Under the ‘Seafarer’ section, click on ‘DC Endorsement GMDSS Radio Operator’.
- Select ‘Application for DC Endorsement for Advanced (Level II)’ and proceed with the application.
- The DCE certificate is system-generated and will be dispatched to your registered address within 3 to 15 days via post.
The fee for the Advanced DCE is ₹4500.
