Qualifications for PSCRB

The PSCRB Course requires the following eligibility criteria in a simplified version:

    • Minimum Age: 18 years old.
    • Required Education: 10th year education or acceptable equivalent level.
    • Medically Fit: Required to be medically fit to serve on a vessel.
    • Basic English Language Requirements: Basic proficiency in using and understanding English for communicating your thoughts clearly and effectively while training and working.
    • Training Requirements: No previous maritime experience necessary; course designed for entry into the Maritime Industry

Documents requirement for PSCRB

Documentation specified by D.G. Shipping is necessary for the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) program at Maritime Training Institutes and for compliance with the STCW, and must include:

  • You must possess a Personal Survival Techniques Certificate showing that you have completed a Personal Survival Techniques course.
  • You must have a Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) showing how many months of service you have completed.
  • You must possess an Indian National Database of Seafarers (INDOS) ID Card (or an equivalent nationally recognised seafarer identification card).
  • You must hold a valid medical certificate issued by an ILO/ENG 1 approved physician in accordance with D.G. Shipping and have it submitted to the Ministry of Shipping.
  • You must hold a valid passport or a recognised form of government-issued identity that provides proof of your identity.
  • Generally, you will also need to provide at least 2 passport-size photographs that are identical in size.
