The OCTCO Course is designed as a module based training course for officers and ratings assigned to cargo related or composite cargo equipment operational duties and responsibilities. A candidate’s participation in this course will meet the STCW Convention and comply with the requirements outlined in Section A-V/1-1.

Eligibility for OCTCO/OCTO Course
Eligibility of Oil and chemical tanker basic training(OCTCO/OCTO) for STCW-compliant training for marine operations depends on meeting the requirements as a crewmember(officer-or rated) of an oil vessel or chemical tanker (i.e., oil tanker or chemical tanker). To enroll in the OCTCO/OCTO program, you must meet these pre-requisites:
Required Qualifications:
Your completion of STCW-BST is a requirement and consists of completing four separate modules:
- Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, (FPFF)
- Elementary First Aid, (EFA)
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibility, (PSSR)
- Personal Survival Techniques, (PST).
Note: You Must be In possession of an Indian National Database of Seafarers (INDoS) Number.
Documents requirement for OCTCO/OCTO
Before you can start your OCTCO/OCTO course at a maritime training institution, you will generally be required to submit certain documents.
- This includes a current Indian Passport (including copies).
- If you have previous seagoing experience, you will be required to submit a Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
- You will be required to have completed a full medical fitness examination by a doctor registered with the Directorate General of Shipping and provide a copy of this.
- You will be required to submit 2 – 4 passport-sized colour photographs in formal uniform.
NOTE: If you have your details and certificates, fully updated in your Seafarer Profile, you may not require any additional supporting documents for your application.
