EFA Exit Exam

The EFA (Elementary First Aid Course) is a part of basic safety training STCW Course. This course makes the seafarers eligible to apply the initial first aid at the time of medical emergency. This is a basic training course that every seafarer has to go through to be eligible to join the Merchant Navy. After completing the EFA and other three courses of the BST Course, you need to appear for the EFA Exit Exam to get the BST STCW Certificate. 

EFA Exit Exam 2025 Format

  • The EFA (Elementary First Aid) Exit Exam 2025 is the mandatory online MCQ-based test for seafarers completing the Basic Safety STCW course in India.

  • It is conducted on the DG Shipping Exit Exam portal at a DG Shipping–approved Maritime Training Institute (MTI).

  • The exam is webcam and CCTV monitored, and each candidate gets up to 3 attempts to pass.

  • The exam fee is ₹295 per attempt (₹250 + taxes); the number of questions and time limit appear on the exam screen.

  • Completing MTI training and passing the EFA Exit Exam is mandatory to receive the official DG Shipping STCW certificate.

Who Needs to Take the EFA Exit Exam

  • After completing your pre-sea training from the college, you need to attend the BST course in which you need to attend the EFA Exit Exam. 
  • If you are joining the Merchant Navy through Open CDC then you need to go through the EFA Exit Exam. 
  • If your company is asking to complete the EFA again, then also you need to apply for the EFA Course and complete the EFA Exit Exam.
