Eligibility for CHEMCO/ATTCO Course
For the enrollment in CHEMCO, that is Advanced Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations, you need to be at least:
1) Qualification / Competency
You must satisfy any one of the following:
- Hold a Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) as a Rating forming part of a navigational watch or engineering watch OR
- Any sea service required for the candidate to become eligible to sit for a CoC examination.
- If you are applying as an officer, you should have a valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) too.
2) Pre-requisite tanker course
- You must have completed Basic Training in Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations if applicable.
3) Experience on chemical tankers/onboard training STCW basis
- You should have chemical tanker exposure, usually in one of the following forms:
- At least 3 months of approved sea service on chemical tankers in the last 60 months,
OR - At least 1 month of approved onboard training as a supernumerary/trainee on a chemical tanker, dealing with operations related to the loading and unloading of cargo, according to STCW Code Section A-V/1.
Medical Fitness:
- Medical fitness (mandatory)
- You have to be medically fit as per IMO requirements.
- A medical fitness certificate from a D.G. Shipping-approved doctor is mandatory.
- Eyesight and hearing need to meet the required standards.
