ECDIS Course Training Requirement
- The Candidate undertaking this course must have completed his pre-sea training for deck cadets and sea service of not less than 6 months as a deck Cadet.

- Deck ratings who have completed sea service for Certificate of Competency as Second Mate FG or NWKO- NCV and have attended the relevant competency course.
- Candidate shall have a certificate for ROSC and ARPA and have at least 3 months of sea service associated with bridge watch-keeping duties under the supervision of a qualified officer.
- Candidate should also be familiar with personal computing operating systems, keyboards, and mice or trackballs.
Documents Required for ECDIS Course

- INDoS Id
- CDC with proof of Sea Service.
- ROC and ARPA certificate.

ECDIS Course Details
The ECDIS course equips seafarers with the essential knowledge and skills required for the navigation of the ship. The training covers:
- Handle ENC data, licenses, and update files.
- Position indicator, including emulation of fixed quality and, in the instance of GNSS, satellite constellation.
- Alternative position source, Heading indicator, true and magnetic, with graphic course recording, speed indicator, depth indicator, ARPA tracked target data, AIS, including control of static data and messaging.
- Audio for navigation and assessment systems when fitted.
- Communication between all ships and the instructor.
- Provide adequate and well-lit space for plotting on paper charts as the required means of backup required for a single ECDIS installation.
