Eligibility for BPW Course

To attend the BPW Course, you need to clear all of the points mentioned below. 

  1. Certified Officers
    • Hold a valid Certificate of Competency as Master, Chief Mate, or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.
  2. For Deck Trainees
    • Deck trainees who have completed the minimum required sea service to appear for the Certificate of Competency as Second Mate [FG] or NWKO (NCV), and have successfully completed the following Directorate General of Shipping-approved courses:
    • Radar Observer Simulator Course (ROSC)
    • Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA)
    • Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS)
  3. Medical Fitness
  4. E Learning Requirements
    • As per DG Shipping Guidelines, candidates can only appear for the final examination (Exit Exam/Institute Exam) after successfully completing the E-Learning Module of the course.

1. E-Learning Requirements for BPW Exit Exam

  • Minimum Study Hours: 18 hours
  • Passing Marks: 50%

2. Steps to Complete E-Learning:
