The High Voltage Safety and Switchgear– Management Level Course (HV-M) is a mandatory 5-day program. The training requirement in the enhancement of the competency in High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear for the Management Level Engineer Officers, as per STCW Regulation III/2, – Chief and Second Engineer Officers and Regulation III/6 – Electro-technical officers are to be trained to work with high voltage installations on board merchant ships. This course is designed to educate and train management-level officers and Electrical Officers on high-voltage systems.

Eligibility for HV-M Course

To attend the HV-M Course, you need to clear all of the points mentioned below. 

  1. Required Eligibility for HV-M Course
    • To attend the HV-O Course, you must clear all the points mentioned below. 
    • Marine Engineering officers holding as a minimum:
    • a MEO Class IV (FG / NCV) certificate of competency and has completed a minimum of 12 months sea going service as a certificated Engineer Officer of watch OR
    • a MEO Class I/ II (FG / NCV) certificate of competency OR
    • a Dredge Grade I/ II certificate of competency
    • Electro-technical officers holding, as a minimum,
    • a Certificate of Competency as “Electro-Technical Officer” issued by the Govt. of India; OR
    • a certificate of course completion, having completed an approved ETO Pre-sea training course and has completed approved seagoing service to be eligible for appearing for ETO Certificate of Competency examination; OR
    • a record of sea-going service of not less than 12 months in the capacity of ETO/ Electrical Officer/trainee E/O to be eligible for appearing ETO Certification of Competency Examination.
  2. E-Learning Requirement
    • As per DG Shipping Guidelines, candidates can only appear for the final examination (Exit Exam/Institute Exam) after completing the E-Learning Module of the course.

  • Minimum Study Hours: 18  hours
  • Passing Marks: 70%

2. Steps to Complete E-Learning:
